Microsoft launches new Windows operating system 8
"We have reinvented Windows," said Steven Sinofsky head of Microsoft's Windows division, in the speech delivered on 13 September in the Microsoft developer conference held in Los Angeles where Windows was presented in August, the next version Windows operating system.
8 runs on Windows mobile devices, tablet PCs and laptops. It incorporates two interfaces, the Windows Classic and a new view called Metro. This new interface is designed for a new generation of applications and can handle touchscreen via finger or digital pen, mouse and keyboard as well as gestures, incorporating technology Kinect. Its design is based on the Windows Phone System 7, which is based on the active tiles that provide access to applications, called "Live Tiles".
During the presentation, the Redmond company showed the system boot time in different types of devices with long record showing that the new version has a system boot faster than previous versions of Windows and consumes less memory.
Windows 8 will be exportable, allowing companies to provide their employees with a USB memory device to copy entire system so they can continue their work outside the corporate computer.
Microsoft has not finalized the release date of Windows 8, however, the platform is expected to be available in trial version by January 2012 and is finally launched by the end of 2012.
